MCC-Penn Valley hosts Alta Vista Early College Day

About 80 students from Alta Vista Charter School visited MCC-Penn Valley on Thursday to participate in Early College Day.

Students toured MCC-Penn Valley Health Science Institute, then came to the main campus for lunch and presentations by Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) and current early college students attending MCC-Penn Valley.

OLAS serves Thanksgiving meals to needy residents

The Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) recently volunteered at Guadalupe Centers Inc. Thanksgiving Luncheon. The MCC-Penn Valley student organization helped prepare drinks, set tables, clean-up and serve food to 500 GCI participants and community people with a Thanksgiving meal.

Pint size ghouls trick or treat at MCC-Penn Valley

The most adorable little ghouls and goblins paraded across the MCC-Penn Valley campus in search of candy!

Children enrolled in Guadalupe Centers, Inc.’s Plaza de Niños participated in their annual trick or treat on campus. The Organizatin of Latin American Students (OLAS) helped guide the youngsters around. OLAS was a welcome addition because the majority of the children speak Spanish and it was helpful that the bilingual OLAS students served as guides.

OLAS celebrates Mexican Independence Day

The Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) at MCC-Penn Valley hosted a Mexican Independence Day celebration last week.

The holiday marks the 200th anniversary of Mexico's freedom from Spanish rule.

In addition to selling Mexican food, the event also featured music, dancing and trivia.
