Gamerz Club at MCC-Blue River active and growing

The Gamerz Club at Metropolitan Community College-Blue River has a great following and offers its members fun and well organized events. The club, under administrator Dee Mathison, offers students the opportunity to enjoy tournaments, on campus competitions, and casual gaming gatherings. The Gamerz Club held an event in the MCC-Blue River Campus Center on March 9, and had a great turn out. Dozens of members and passersby joined in.

The club’s mission statement says it all: “We are a group of gamers that believe in the power of the individual. We strive for improvement within each member, and take pride in our hobby as Gamerz. Meeting new colleagues and enjoying what life has to offer is what this club is about. Our club has one belief: the stereotype of the gaming community and its gamers are simple misinterpretations. Our goal: to change the views of the gaming stereotype that our club battles from day to day. Let’s get started… GAME ON!”

Go to the MCC-Blue River Gamerz Club's Facebook page to find out about upcoming events or how to join.

Minute to Win it with the MCC-Longview Engineering Club

Engineering club 7

Members of the MCC-Longview Engineering Club participated in a Minute-to-Win-It style competition during their December meeting on Wednesday.

In less than a minutes members had to complete specific puzzles or tasks (which were hard even for our engineers) to advance to the next round.

In the competition above, teams of two sat back to back as one person had to describe how to construct a small Lego-like set to another person who could not see it. Sometimes, the finished product did not quite match the original design.
