MCC-Longview blood drive

Community Blood Center is the primary supplier of blood for local hospitals and has been serving Missouri and Kansas hospitals for almost 50 years. Community Blood Center needs to collect 580 pints of blood every day and over 140,000 pints annually to meet the needs of our local hospitals. An individual within the area that Community Blood Center serves needs a blood transfusion every four minutes.

You have the opportunity to do your part for local hospital patients at the next Community Blood Center blood drive held at MCC-Longview in the Private Dining Room/Campus Center, 500 Longview Road on Wednesday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

MCC-Maple Woods to host Joplin Relief Blood Drive

Many things are needed in the aftermath of the tornadoes in Joplin, including blood supplies. In an effort to provide relief and much-needed supplies for the Community Blood Center, Maple Woods is hosting a Joplin Relief Blood Drive from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. July 5, 2011 in the Student Center. This is a great opportunity for students, faculty and staff who may not have time to donate during the spring and fall semesters to help out!

Those who wish to donate must present a photo ID and complete a mini-physical and health summary (private). Anyone who is healthy, over 16 years old and weighs at least 115 pounds is eligible to donate.

MCC-Blue River blood drive to aid Joplin, western Missouri

There is still no such thing as a "blood cell factory"

Joplin tornado survivors are still in the hearts and minds of the MCC-Blue River community, and a June 29 blood drive on campus will present an opportunity to send help to the ravaged western Missouri city. Community Blood Center is working hard to resupply western Missouri with blood since a great amount of their resources have been directed to the tornado disaster area.

Aside from the benefit donors will be providing to their community, they can also earn points from Community Blood Center toward rewards (see previous detailed article). You can make an appointment online at www.savealifenow.org and use the sponsor code “blueriver” to receive reward points for your donation.

Aside from the comfort you get from knowing that you’ve donated blood, you can earn some cool rewards at the Community Blood Center Blood Drive sponsored by MCC-Blue River. A "Bloody" Good Effort - MCC-Blue River's Blood Drive

Today, MCC-Blue River, in connection with the Community Blood Bank of Kansas City, hosted a blood drive in the Arts and Science’s Gymnasium. The drive started at 9:00 a.m. and registration concluded at 1:00 p.m.

Holly Casares, with the Community Blood Bank, marked today’s drive a success. She went on to say enthusiastically that “we’ve had 38 donors!” In fact, as the drive ended, potential donors were still steaming into the gym.

Today's effort was organized by David Owens, Blue River’s fitness, recreation, and athletic programs coordinator. The drives have historically been conducted each semester. Be sure to watch Blue River’s Facebook page for more upcoming dates and times to donate.
