MCC-Blue River blood drive to aid Joplin, western Missouri

There is still no such thing as a "blood cell factory"
Joplin tornado survivors are still in the hearts and minds of the MCC-Blue River community, and a June 29 blood drive on campus will present an opportunity to send help to the ravaged western Missouri city. Community Blood Center is working hard to resupply western Missouri with blood since a great amount of their resources have been directed to the tornado disaster area.

Aside from the benefit donors will be providing to their community, they can also earn points from Community Blood Center toward rewards (see previous detailed article). You can make an appointment online at www.savealifenow.org and use the sponsor code “blueriver” to receive reward points for your donation.

Immediately following the tornado, Community Blood Center (CBC) shipped life-saving blood to the Ozarks to support the rescue and relief efforts. Seeking to continue their life-saving efforts, CBC Director Maureen O’Sullivan says:

MCC-Blue River featured on "Positively Blue Springs"

"Positively Blue Springs" is an internet broadcast sponsored by the Blue Springs School District. Spotlighting eastern Jackson County's residents and resources, the show brings a taste of "eastern Jack" to metropolitan Kansas City and the World Wide Web.
Most recently, the show featured two of MCC-Blue River's very own campus superstars - Bob Florence and David Owens.

Bob, Blue River's marketing coordinator, promoted the college's unmatched commitmentto education, community and student success. David shared insights into last year's soccer season and championed Blue River as an exceptional educational option for student athletes.

Did you miss the fun?

Thursdays are open volleyball [tournaments] in the MCC-Blue River Arts and Sciences Gymnasium. Perfectly suited for the lunch hour, all games begin at Noon.

Among several others, Jenny Steen was keeping things moving on the volleyball court today!

Come on and join a team (and the fun) next Thursday, October 28! You'll also see who gets a Trailblazers shirt for 100% participation!
