MCC-Maple Woods Chemistry Lab gets a facelift

Students returning to the familiar corridors for the Math-Science Building at MCC-Maple Woods may be surprised to discover and entirely new experience where their old chemistry lab used to be. New equipment was recently hoisted onto the roof of the building to help with heating, cooling and ventilating the new lab, which will be open for students this fall.

Mike Sweetland serves his students and country with pride. Sweetland teaches chemistry at MCC-Penn Valley and serves in the Missouri National Guard.

Sweetland goes above and beyond with his military duties and recently committed to improving science education for children in other countries. His latest initiative is a fundraiser to raise money for a chemistry course designed to bond Serbian and Albanian youth.
