Mark your calendars for the annual MCC-Longview Literary Festival: Oct. 15-16

The MCC-Longview Literary Festival is not just for readers... its for all readers, writers, publishers, poets, song writers, copy writers and everyone else in between who enjoys the written works of others.

This year's keynote speaker will be former Kansas City Star book editor John Mark Eberhart.

Once again the literary festival returns to the Mel Aytes Education Center with two days packed with activities for readers and writers of all ages. Meet with renowned authors, editors and publishers from around the area, or stop by to purchase book from local and national authors.

As part of the two-day festival, participants can also learn from professional authors about their craft and how you can start writing your own piece of literature at home.The Dead Horse Society will present writing workshops including Elements of Fiction, Writing Dialogue, and Creatures of Light and Dark: Biology in Fiction.

MCC-Longview invites you to add to the story...

Calling all authors and artists!

Beginning on Friday, Oct. 8 and running until Thursday, Oct. 14, there will be a “Round Robin” story/art event in the MCC-Longview Campus Center Student Commons.

There will be a starter sentence provided, and YOU provide the rest of the story through poetry, fiction, art, comics or even personal experience.

All of work done on the story will then be on display at the 2010 MCC-Longview Literary Festival at the Mel Aytes Education Center on Oct.15 and 16 to see the completed masterpiece.

Be creative. Be inspired, and let your imagination go!

Calling all authors: The MCC-Longview Literary Festival wants you

This is your invitation to participate in the Third Annual MCC-Longview Literary Festival – Oct. 15 and 16.

The Longview Literary Festival will feature readings, panel discussions and autograph sessions from fellow authors. There will also be an area where you can sell your books.

We want community members, students as well as professional writers, publishers, editors and scholars to come participate and talk about their craft.

Like last year, we will have area literary groups (critiques, readings and writings) to showcase the variety of literary connections available in the larger metropolitan community.  

 

We sincerely hope that you will be able to join us in making this year’s literary festival another success.
