Immersion Trip to Uganda at MCC-Blue River

Want to end the year 2011 with a bang? Well, MCC-Blue River mathematics instructor, Eric S.Parsons has a fabulous idea of how you can. He’s planning an immersion trip to Uganda, and he’s inviting MCC employees and students to come along for the learning and fun.

Mesmerized by Uganda’s landscapes and ornamental beauty, Winston Churchill once described Uganda as “The Pearl of Africa." Blue River’s Eric Parsons is similarly captivated by the splendor of this country. Having spent two years in Uganda as a Peace Corps volunteer, he’s excited to re-visit a country he loves and introduce his MCC friends to the wonders of this “Pearl of Africa."

Those going on the trip can expect life-changing experiences to enrich their lives and bring back to their MCC work or study. Some of the activities will include, but are not limited to:

• Trip to Murchison Falls National Park
• Game drive and boat trip
• Visit the top of the Falls and travel to Jinja
• White-water rafting on the Nile
• Mountain gorilla tracking and more

There will also be opportunities to visit a primary teachers’ college, tour local technical schools, and potentially meet with Ministry of Education officials.

An informational meeting/workshop will be Wednesday, Feb. 9 in EC 110 on the Blue River campus. It will begin at 1 p.mm and conclude at 2:30 p.m. To enroll in the workshop, contact professional.development@mcckc.edu or call 816.604.1380. If you have questions about the trip, contact Eric Parsons at 816.604.6746 or via email at eric.parsons@mcckc.edu.

“I want everyone to have an amazing time filled with lots of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like mountain gorilla tracking and white water rafting on the Nile,” says Parsons, “It really should be a great trip.”
