MCC-Maple Woods celebrates Women's History Month with open mic night

Calling all performers! MCC-Maple Woods is hosting it's fourth installment of the Evening of the Arts and Coffeehouse - "A Night About the Ladies - Celebrating Women's Herstory" - from 6-9 p.m. March 30 in the Student Center. All performances are welcome from a variety of genres - poetry, prose, storytelling, music, dance, film, etc., and stories about women are preferred. Participants may also display original artwork at the event. The Collegiate Activities Board will host the Women's Herstory Trivia Challenge, and as always, there will be FREE coffee provided by the Maple Woods Bookstore!

Love is in the air at MCC-Maple Woods!
MCC-Maple Woods is celebrating Valentine's Day, Single Awareness Day, Flower Appreciation Day, Hallmark Profit Day, whatever you want to call it! In addition to the Candy Bar (clever) and the DIY card table (take that, Hallmark!) and a fun Spin the Bottle for Prizes game, the Collegiate Activities Board also sponsored "Random Acts of Kindness Week," encouraging students, faculty and staff to get out there and help out their fellow students and community.

As Student Ambassadors at MCC-Maple Woods, these students promote events, give tours to prospecitive students, perform campus and community service and do whatever is necessary to make sure "the Woods" is a positive, peaceful campus for students and visitors. They undergo leadership training at the beginning of each semester so that they can work together with adminstrators, faculty, staff and other students to promote everything MCC-MW has to offer.

If you've seen a fun or wacky event on campus, thank the Collegiate Activities Board, or CAB. These students host a series of events each semester to keep students motivated, active and engaged on campus. Everything from free hot dogs to movie marathons to stress-relief massages is courtesy of CAB.
Both groups of students are motivated by Misty Chandler, interim campus life and leadership coordinator.
