Penn Valley athletic banquet honors basketball players

Holding your own on the court and in the classroom can be a challenge. But that's what makes student athletes special. MCC-Penn Valley honored the Scouts and Lady Scouts basketball teams for a great season.

Athletic Director Marcus Harvey and Women's Basketball Coach saluted the team for their hard work and perseverance.

Lady Scouts continue to soar!

MCC-Penn Valley Lady Scouts continue their winning streak. They beat Haskell Indian Nations 79 - 47 on Wednesday.

Several players also broke a few records in the process including:

Individual Record-Ejehi Ehovon, 13 offensive rebounds in a game (previous record held by: Hilary Walker, 11 offensive rebounds).

Team Records-Most rebounds in a game: 69. Previous record: 58 rebounds in a game, Year: 1995.

Tied with the 2005 defensive record for the most rebounds (37) in a game.

Check out the Lady Scouts tomorrow at 4 p.m. when they take on Cloud Community College. Also cheer them on at 6 p.m. on Monday when they play Ottawa University.

Who says you can never go home again?

Certainly not Wakisha Briggs who is a former Penn Valley student and is now serving as head coach of the Lady Scouts basketball team. Briggs, who played for the team from 1994 to 1996, is excited about returning to her roots and using her talent and skills to lead the team to a victorious season.
