Congratulations to Kelly Lucas and Robert Gaines who both won their respective elections to the Phi Theta Kappa Regional Office.
Lucas and Gaines will now represent MCC-Longview at the higher regional level with PTK helping shape the organization state-wide.
"I am incredibly proud that our MCC-Longview team totally rocks. Their numerous awards and roles are well-deserved," PTK adviser Jan Rog said.
Along with the recognition, MCC-Longview's PTK chapter and officers took home several awards that highlighted the outstanding work that Longview students have put into the organization.
Lais da Silva won Distinguished Chapter Member.
J.R. Byers won Distinguished Chapter Officer.
As a group, MCC-Longview's PTK chapter was named a 5-Star Chapter, which is a grade given by PTK's national officers based on the work done by a single chapter.
Longview's chapter also won the Phoenix Award, which recognizes those chapters that have improved the most in the past year.
The officers of MCC-Longview's PTK chapter were also recognized for the work they have done in the past year to secure these awards and by being named Chapter OFficer Team of the Year.
Even with all the awards, Rog said the most important accomplishment of the regional conference was getting to watch students from every MCC PTK chapter work together and begin planning for the next year as they hope to support one another to grow and accomplish more.
