MCC-Maple Woods partners with Northland leaders to envision the future

Leaders from every aspect of the growing Northland community have formed a comprehensive group aimed at further developing Clay and Platte counties. Health and safety, economic development, education, faith-based and other community representatives comprise Vision North. The group meets 1-2 times a month at MCC-Maple Woods.

The group recently held its first two stakeholder meetings of 2011 to discuss issues impacting the overall health of the Northland community and the difficulties of addressing these issues. Child/family health, diversity, economic development, fiscal sustainability, housing, education, infrastructure, recreation and transportation were all put forth as pressing issues for the community. The group also brainstormed ideas for future development in the area, including caves, the Missouri River and Kansas City International Airport and the creation of a major family recreation center.
