Apparel and Textiles instructor Sheryl Farnan congratulates student Kelsie Shorley on being selected for Teen Vogue Fashion University.For the third year, MCC-Penn Valley Apparel and Textiles Student Kelsie Shorley has been selected to participate in a prestigious fashion event. Shorley is one of 1,000 fashion students selected from design schools across the country to visit New York on Oct. 22-24 for the Teen Vogue Fashion University, an annual event hosted by Vogue.
The weekend features fashion celebrities and designers’ presentations, workshops, and networking events - all focused on helping students get the inside track into a career in design, fashion journalism or retail merchandising.
Featured speakers include Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue; Jason Wu, designer of Michelle Obama’s Inaugural gown; Zac Posen, designer; and Jenna Lyons, Creative Director for J. Crew.
Attendees will also enjoy a power shopping trip to H&M and Juicy Couture.
According to Vogue, thousands of students apply each year and are selected based on several criteria, including an essay about career aspirations in fashion.
