Economic Development Expert Craig Joins MCC Staff

Jessica Craig has joined the staff of MCC as performance manager of economic development for the Institute for Workforce Innovation.

Craig came to MCC from the Missouri Department of Economic Development where she worked as a field project manager for seven years. In that role, she coordinated business recruitment and expansion activities which included crafting incentive packages for companies. She worked with businesses across the Greater Kansas City region and was responsible for business development in the life sciences industry, including the Animal Health Corridor.
At MCC, Craig will be responsible for economic development
initiatives, including administering three state incentive programs for which MCC is the fiscal agent. She will take over many of the responsibilities formerly held by Andrew Filla, who retired from MCC last spring. She said she accepted the position at MCC because she is aware of the potential for growth in our region and understands MCC’s position to implement changes.

Craig, a newlywed whose maiden name is Eads, is a graduate of Missouri Valley College where she earned degrees in accounting and finance and played competitive softball. Originally from Sedalia, after college she worked at State Street in Kansas City as a mutual fund accountant before moving back to central Missouri to work for the State Department in 2004.
