Have you changed to a new work station and experienced discomfort in your neck or back? What should you do about it? Employees experiencing physical discomfort in their work environment have the opportunity to have the workstation evaluated.
Proper workstation layout, including adjustments of chair, computer and keyboard, allows for a safe, comfortable work environment leading to a more productive work flow. Check out the pointers on the InfoExchange under the Human Resources tab, then by scrolling down to Benefit – Ergonomics, to be sure your station is set up properly.
“If you sit at your desk for long periods of time, my recommendation is to get up and move,” said Robin McClain, MCC’s risk and compliance manager. “You don’t have to leave your general work area. MCC has posted a number of stretches and exercises recommended for those who have desk jobs.”
If you have tried the tips above and have not experienced relief, complete the Ergonomic Office Evaluation found in the same tab.
Any questions on ergonomics can be directed to Robin McClain at 816.604.1124.
