Coming to MCC-BTC? Work at I-435 and Front Street to Begin Early April

Work will begin soon to replace the current overpass at I-435 and Front Street with a diverging diamond intersection.

According to MoDOT's website, the diverging diamond's "...innovative new alignment design will accommodate more traffic in a safe and efficient pattern.  Diverging diamond interchanges shift traffic to the left side through the interchange to allow vehicles to complete through movements and left turns without encountering oncoming traffic. Once through the interchange, traffic shifts back to the right side."

While MoDOT is hailing the diverging diamond as an innovation in traffic efficiency, it will be several months before travelers will experience time saved at the interchange.

Nighttime and weekend lane closures and other restrictions will be in place at various times during construction. Traffic updates will be posted on www.modot.mo.gov/kansascity as well as views from a still camera, updated every few minutes, to show construction progress and timely traffic conditions at the job site.
